READY FORA MOET (Race 8)

RACE 1 - 12:10PM Festival Hire Maiden Plate (1817 METRES)

MAATSUYKER is a Victorian with solid form lines for a race like this. He was runner-up at Penola two starts back before a good run at Warrnambool behind Friday At Five and has found a very winnable race. He opened a backable price and was quick to shorten and one worth including in all mulits. TAVERN MUSIC was runner-up at Swan Hill two starts back and then OK at Horsham last time. Stablemate REBEL LEYLA was just behind the placegetters at Kyneton three starts back and gets the blinkers going on. TAVOLTA maps well from the barrier and was placed at Hamilton in November.

SELECTIONS: 5 MAATSUYKER, 9 Tavern Music, 8 Rebel Leyla, 3 Tavolta

PLAY: Keen on MAATSUYKER here.

RACE 2 - 12:45PM Budget Rental Cars Mount Gambier Maiden Plate (1217 METRES)

DANGEROUS WAR had a couple of trials leading into his debut and was well backed when 4th behind Keettom here. He was again favourite when 5th behind Journey To Rio at Naracoorte last time. They go for the blinkers here from the good gate and he’s the top pick. DETNAW ran well first-up from a break behind Tequila Storm here and should get a nice run from the inside gate. SANDHILL KNIGHT comes off a good effort running 3rd Journey To Rio at Naracoorte at big odds. EASE OFFA has the two trials under his belt the latest running 2nd behind Dr Dee Dee and HASTA LA WIZARD has trialled Ok running third in the same trial.

SELECTIONS: 1 DANGEROUS WAR, 2 Detnaw, 7 Ease Offa, 6 Sandhill Knight

PLAY: Happy to sit out.

RACE 3 - 1:20PM Scott Group of Companies Benchmark 68 Handicap (2069 METRES)

TIL IT’S OVER comes off a good effort making ground form well back behind Mark of The Man at Warrnambool during Cup week. He looks ready to peak third-up here, well weighted and should take some beating. HARBOURING has been going super and Campbell Rawiller has won four from four on the horse. He’s won his past two at Port Augusta and is sure to run well despite the weight. EAGLES FOREVER has won three of his past four, the latest beating Flow Meter at Naracoorte. He draws out but looks very well placed here. BRIGADIER was good behind Clever Man two starts back and then placed behind Eagles Forever at Naracoorte last time. Stablemate AEROETTE has been racing well and draws a barrier.

SELECTIONS: 6 TIL IT’S OVER, 1 Harbouring, 3 Eagles Forever, 2 Brigadier

PLAY: Very keen TIL IT’S OVER.

RACE 4 - 1:55PM Carlton Draught Benchmark 68 Handicap (1317 METRES)

DR DEE DEE has a great record and comes out of a strong race chasing home Mask Up at Morphettville when he warmed up late. He looks a sharp improver in a race like this. MR MARATHON MAN was beaten under a length in 5th behind Blood Sweat Tears at Morphettville last time. His previous was only fair and you have to take him on trust. ROHLON DRUNK has won 11 of 44 and was a Naracoorte winner last time out but has to carry plenty of weight. MUNTHAM MISSILE hasn’t raced since the Hamilton Cup back in October but has a good fresh record, draws a good barrier and has been specked at odds. GREETINGS NED draws a good barrier and has had his racing spaced this year with just three starts since January. He’s on his home deck and must be respected. STAR JAN was a good run here three starts back behind Chill With Teejay and a repeat would be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: 4 DR DEE DEE, 2 Mr Marathon Man, 1 Rohlon Drunk, 3 Muntham Missile

PLAY: DR DEE DEE the top pick here.

RACE 5 - 2:30PM Baxter Hire Maiden Plate (1417 METRES)

PENSLEY had specking and ran OK behind Tequila Storm here on debut. He draws awkwardly but is probably the horse to beat on what we know. TAFIKA is the watch on debut for James Bull from Hamilton. He has been to the jump outs five times and worked home to run 3rd in his latest at Horsham behind Le Don De Vie, a horse who ran in the Metropolitan, Geelong Cup and Hotham back in the spring and is now with Maher/Eustace. He opened around the $19 mark and was quickly backed into $8 and he can certainly show up in a race like this. CARRY ON FLYING was only fair on debut over this trip at Murray Bridge last December. He’s had the two trials back and draws a good barrier to improve. RAPINOE is an interesting runner first-up for Peter Chow. He had three trials in Sydney for John O’Shea but has been easy since markets opened and needs to lift on a couple of jump-outs.

SELECTIONS: 11 PENSLEY, 12 Tafika, 6 Carry On Flying, 9 Rapinoe

PLAY: Keen to see how the market reacts to early money for TAFIKA.

RACE 6 - 3:05PM Midfield Group Class 2 Handicap (1417 METRES)

DOTHRAKI has been runner-up at Hamilton and Geelong his past couple. He draws the inside and gets his hance to find winning form. LIGHT’S VISION was solid in the market when a soft Penola winner beating Bywaters Road last time and should give this a shake from a middle gate. GOLIOTUS showed ability over a trip and came back for one run a Penola in October and was well backed and subsequently spelled. He draws well and must be respected. INNOCENT PEgG is a former Tasmanian who won well here at odds before another solid effort behind Alsvior at Naracoorte last time. LOOSE LIP LLOYD was a Penola winner two starts back and then led before weaking late behind Ali Orphan here last time. WARMINSTER went to Warracknabeal at won at odds before being outclassed behind Miss Langtry in town. He can improve quickly.

SELECTIONS: 3 DOTHRAKI, 4 Light’s Vision, 4 Innocent Pegg, 8 Loose Lip Lloyd

PLAY: LIGHT’S VISION each-way at the price.

RACE 7 - 3:40PM Carlin & Gazzard Benchmark 54 Handicap (1217 METRES)

JOLTING was $2.35 into $1.90 when beaten by Craiglea Blizzard at Horsham last time. He draws the inside but looks hard to beat here. COMIENDO has been in the money at both starts here on his home track and was sent out favourite when disappointing at Naracoorte last start. BULL DUST has been specked at odds but would need to lift on his latest on a heavy track at Warrnambool. SNAPTOF draws a good barrier and was placed here four runs back behind Archway To Heaven.

SELECTIONS: 2 JOLTING, 10 Comiendo, 1 Bull Dust, 9 Snaptof

PLAY: JOLTING looks very well placed, COMIENDO over the odds.

RACE 8 - 4:15PM TAB Benchmark 58 Handicap (1567 METRES)

VIVACIOUS AWARD has been in the money at six of 12 and was a Horsham winner four runs back before placings at Geelong and Donald. His latest at Ballarat was OK and he looks the horse to beat here. RECREANT was heavily backed to win to Penola on debut and then liked the wat he worked home behind Innocent Peg last time. He draws out but looks a horse with upside. Stablemate THINEISTHEKINGDOM is a former Tasmanian who only battled at his local debut. WILD COLONIAL BOY has been in the money at four of five starts here and was a Penola winner five runs back. READY FORA MOET was heavily backed to win at her local debut and must be respected. MULGA LIL wasn’t beaten far behind Alsvior at odds last time. MISTA HOLYFIELD draws a good barrier and gets some weight relief. BEAR ARMS loves the wet and can improve.

SELECTIONS: 6 VIVACIOUS AWARD, 5 Recreant, 4 Wild Colonial Boy, 11 Ready For Moet

PLAY: Something on READY FORA MOET who looks over the odds.
