The Goodwood: Behemoth draws perfectly, Extreme Warrior favourite

Exciting three-year-old Extreme Warrior will jump from barrier 13 chasing a second Group 1 victory in Adelaide in successive weeks for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr in Saturday’s $502,250 Group 1 Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville.

Extreme Warrior remains favourite at $6 with tab.com.au following the barrier draw. Jamie Kah will partner the exciting stallion prospect who jumped out alongside stablemate and fellow Goodwood contender Lombardo, who is unbeaten in four Adelaide starts, in a jump out at Cranbourne last Monday.

Victorian speedster In The Boat will have to overcome the extreme outside draw and eased slightly to $7 ahead of star local Behemoth at $8.

The David Jolly galloper drew perfectly in barrier eight in what will be his fourth tilt at the Goodwood with in-form rider Kayla Crowther getting the biggest opportunity of her short but successful career to claim a Group 1 win.

Will Clarken’s pair of Ironclad (16) and Beau Rossa (21) both drew poorly with the leading trainer booking apprentices Ben Price for Beau Rossa while his brother Will rides Ironclad.

D C McKay Stakes winner Free Of Debt drew perfectly in barrier four with Dom Tourneur to ride while the two eye-catching runs in the race – The Inferno – drew well in barrier three.

Ryan Balfour has booked Jason Holder to partner Outlaws Revenge who clocked the fastest closing sectional in the McKay Stakes.

“I was hoping for somewhere between barrier four and eight, so nine should be fine,’’ Balfour said.

“The horse came through his last run really well and I can’t wait for Saturday,’’ he said.

Defending Goodwood winner Savatoxl drew nicely in barrier seven while stablemate Frankie Pinot, who won the Wangoom at Warrnambool, will jump from barrier four.

Jess Eaton will has been booked for race emergency Manhatten Times who drew a middle barrier but will need a scratching to secure his place in the capacity field.
