DEAN PETTIT'S TRACK REPORT

Tracks walked at 1:30pm Thursday. Overcast and no rain expected for the 24hours leading up to the Saturday meeting with similar conditions set for Friday.

Morphettville Parks: Overall the Parks track walks in good order and rated ideally in the good 4 rating, the rail comes out +3m from the 1000m to the Winning Post getting away from some wear and tear from the previous two meetings. The Parks track walks consistent right across all lanes from the W/P to up around both sections until the 800m where we have some light scuff marks along lanes 1-2 but minimal. From the 600m the thickness of the grass is slightly thicker from lanes 5 outwards perhaps making it tougher for midfield/run on types, the grass cover walks thinner Into the entrance of the straight and down the running closer to the inside lanes. Verdict = Could be slight advantage to be down closer to the rail with lanes 1-3 walking in great order.

Morphettville: The Main track is rated at a soft 5 as from Thursday and with no rain expected it should stay in that range. From the W/P to the Crossing we have some scuff marks but once we roll around the bend it levels out we see a beautiful lush grass cover right across the track. At the 800 there is some minor marking along the inside but nothing too concerning. Approaching the 600m to the 400m the track has some light scuff marks along lanes 1-3 from recent racing but would say minor, into the entrance of the straight we see some consistent grass cover and does not walk with any signs of inconsistency and should play very fair for all which has been the case throughout the carnival. Verdict = Should play consistent with what we have had of late and hold the Soft 5 rating with a great cover of grass for the horses.
