Weekend Wrap: McEvoy, Jolly, Crowther claim Oakbank bonuses

Tony and Calvin McEvoy will try and take a big Easter Saturday at Oakbank to the upcoming Adelaide Racing Carnival.

The leading stable claimed three Oakbank features.

Belle Plaisir broke through for her maiden Australian win in the $54,750 Queen Of The Hills with Kayla Crowther in the saddle.

Zoist produced a brilliant turn of foot to run down rivals in the $107,250 Vintage before the most impressive win of the day when lightly-raced filly Defining produced a dazzling turn of speed to win the $107,250 Shillabeer Plate to win by 5.1 lengths.

The three wins also securing the stable a $5000 Trainer’s Bonus for the most prizemoney earned across the two days.

The big names came to fore.

Richard and Chantelle Jolly’s brilliant run continued with Does It winning the $107,250 Onkaparinga Cup before classy sprinting mate All Banter proved she’s more than just a 1000m specialist winning $127,250 Listed Hills Railway Stakes.

David Jolly also had a big weekend with a double at Oakbank on Easter Saturday.

He bookended the meeting which kicked off a big few days for his Goolwa stable with five winners from nine runners across the Easter weekend including Sunday’s Penola Cup with Fulton Street.

His outstanding weekend also saw him claim the $5000 Oakbank Trainer’s Bonus for securing the most points across the two days while Kayla Crowther was the leading jockey securing a $5000 bonus after winning four races over the two days.
