TRADEWIND (R1, Win) – TATALINA (R6, Win) – BILL THE BOXER (R8, win) @ $16

RACE 1 - 3:25PM White Claw Handicap (1600 METRES)

TRADEWIND hasn’t fired for a while now but finds a winnable race. He’s got a wide gate and a big weight, but his best would be beating these, and the Balfour stable is going nicely. MUSTARI shapes the improver from a good barrier with the blinkers going off. ORDER IS RESTORED rolled forward and kept going to win at Balaklava last time. STRATUM’S REWARD is a Victorian with OK form for a race like this. TOP FRED is a watch making his local debut for Garret Lynch. He was a Swan Hill winner last May.

SELECTIONS: 1 TRADEWIND, 2 Mustari, 3 Order Is Restored, 4 Stratum’s Reward

PLAY: TRADEWIND looks a good way to start the day.

RACE 2 - 4:05PM Peter Elberg Funerals Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

A maiden and one I’m happy to stay out. TEXAN WINDSTORM has been racing well and worked home nicely behind Totally Discreet on the Parks last time. That’s solid enough form for this. MISS MIDUKI is the one the early money has come for following a good effort first-up behind Witness Greatness at Gawler. PIERRE DE LUNE has specking at a price on debut behind Vintage Folly at Balaklava. He has the inside gate and looks over the odds. CASSANDRA ISABEL is racing well and deserves to win a maiden.

SELECTIONS: 4 TEXAN WINDSTORM, 11 Miss Miduki, 3 Pierre De Lune, 10 Cassandra Isabel

PLAY: Happy to back PIERRE DE LUNE the place at decent odds.

RACE 3 - 4:45PM The Phoenix - The Everest of Greyhound Racing Maiden Plate (1600 METRES)

RACE AGAINST TIME was placed twice in Victoria before coming to SA and was soft in the market but narrowly beaten behind Penwortham at Gawler last start. He draws the inside gate but looks a clear top pick. LONDRES was solid in betting and stuck on well when 3rd behind Sadler’s Song on the Parks last time. Stablemate SEAFARING draws a nice barrier but it’s trial at Oakbank was only fair. LUCASAYD ran well at odds at his race debut behind Friendly Ghost at Balaklava but faces the extreme outside barrier. CHARM SLINGA was OK behind Sadler’s Song last time on the Parks.

SELECTIONS: 7 RACE AGAINST TIME, 10 Londres, 2 Lucasayd, 5 Charm Slinga

PLAY: Backing RACE AGAINST TIME here.

RACE 4 - 5:25PM Metro Utility Excavations Handicap (1050 METRES)

ULTIMATE VICTORY resumes, races well fresh and he flashed home behind Champagne Affair before a break. He had form around some nice horses in his 3yo season and maps to get every chance. SELF SUFFICIENT is a handy type who is a winner this track and trip two starts back when first-up beating Italian Viking and then jumped favourite behind Winning Weather. FIGHTING MCLAREN is another first-up here and went to the paddock winning two of his last three. He has plenty of weight and an inside draw. STARSPANGLED SAGA has good speed and won at Strathalbyn back in February and trialled well before leading when cut down by Champagne Affair at Balaklava last week.

SELECTIONS: 4 ULTIMATE VICTORY, 2 Self Sufficient, 1 Fighting Mclaren, 7 Starspangled Saga

PLAY: ULTIMATE VICTORY and SELF SUFFICIENT to run the quinella.

RACE 5 - 5:55PM Adelaide Image Printing Handicap (1522 METRES)

GRAFTON AVENUE wasn’t beaten far behind Rubble at Murray Bridge last time out, he gets in well with the claim and should run well here. HARBOURING is racing well and made ground running 2nd behind Bignota at Balaklava last time out. He draws a nice gate is always thereabouts. SCARLET RIVER drops back in trip on last time and was a Gawler winner two starts back at double figure odds. TONY’S REWARD has been OK in two runs back, CYBER INTERVENTION was good at Gawler behind St Just. SPENCER GULF and SHINSEKI both have solid Port Lincoln form.

SELECTIONS: 3 GRAFTON AVENUE, 7 Harbouring, 2 Scarlet River, 4 Tony’s Reward

PLAY: Not keen here.

RACE 6 - 6:25PM Southern Earth Landscaping Handicap (Heat 11 TAB Southern Speed Series) (1800 METRES)

TATALINA has a handy record and looked home before being run down by Carry The Musket at Gawler last time. The extra trip won’t be an issue and her best form is good enough to winning here. She gets every chance from the perfect barrier. ICHIBANSAN broke through in maiden class last time, he drops back in trip here, but he’s got talent and must be respected despite a sticky wide gate. CALIBURN ran well at big odds first-up in SA and draws the inside gate but has plenty of weight. He has been well backed in early betting and must be respected. GIMME A REASON is racing well.

SELECTIONS: 2 TATALINA, 3 Ichibansan, 1 Caliburn, 4 Gimme A Reason

PLAY: Backing TATALINA again here.

RACE 7 - 6:55PM HT Capital Handicap (TAB Alcopop Series Final)(Qualified Horses) (1600 METRES)

Great race and not too many I am comfortable leaving out of a quaddie. The market has this $8 the field which highlights just how even it is. I’ve fallen on a horse with a lot of upside and also the one who has been best backed PICAROON who bookies got wrong early going up $16 before being well tried. She was very good behind Pinot Party on the Parks before a soft win back in class, draws a perfect gate and has Jacob Opperman in the saddle. She is one of eight last-start winners here. ZOULAH was good leading throughout to win second-up for the Clarken team, she draws a sticky gate but has upside. UNLACED was back to winning form beating Ice Ghost and has trialled since. ANNIKA was well backed to win last time on the Parks. HYPERCANE was too good for Artful Libby last start and should get an OK run from a middle gate. ARTFUL LIBBY is another is good form and broke through for a deserving win last time but draws the car park. The McEvoy-trained SPECTACLE looks well weighted here, she was good coming back to SA and winning last time while stablelmate CUBAN STATE was a Balaklava winner last start and must be respected. SACCHARO stuck to his task well behind Zoulah last time. He draws awkwardly but looks well placed again. HEIR OF TAVISTOCK will get a gun run from the inside and has been good running 2nd at his past two, the latest behind Annika. ECHO BOOMER doesn’t run too many bad races but draws poorly. DR DEE DEE is racing well.

SELECTIONS: 13 PICAROON, 8 Zoulah, 12 Artful Libby, 2 Saccharo

PLAY: Something each-way PICAROON in a very open race.

RACE 8 - 7:25PM Kerry Carn Memorial Handicap (1200 METRES)

BILL THE BOXER was well backed to win a Donald maiden on debut. He comes to Adelaide draws a sticky gate but does look a horse with talent and should be fighting out the finish. BELLE OF YORKES looked good winning at Murray Bridge back in July and was thrown in the deep end behind Mac ‘N’ Cheese in the Oaklands Plate before a spell. She’s comes up double figures odds and is well worth an each-way ticket. KORUTO won three of his last five before a spell. The blinkers go on again. ST JUST was a good winner first-up from a spell at Gawler beating Possum Born. LIANNE is former Victorian now with Jordan Frew and has been placed at Geelong and Ballarat at her past two.

SELECTIONS: 2 BILL THE BOXER, 6 Belle Of Yorkes, 1 Koruto, 7 St Just

PLAY: BILL THE BOXER on top but having something on BELLE OF YORKES at the price.
