James Jordan's Morphettville Parks Track Report & Speed Map

Racing.com James Jordan has walked the track ahead of the tomorrow's meeting at Morphettville Parks. Check out James' track report below, as well as speed maps for all nine races.

TRACK REPORT

Winning Post - 1500m: The track has been verti-drained recently and with the rain on Tuesday this area walks on the worse side of a Good 4 and close to a Soft 5 but expect it to dry out a touch before Saturday. Good and even coverage across the track with very minimal wear.

1500m - 800m (back straight): Good coverage with no lanes of advantage in my opinion. Barely any wear to speak of and in a similar range as the rest of the track.

1300m chute (1300-900m): Can also see this area has been verti-drained so walks with some give under foot. Minimal wear on the inside two lanes with slightly more prevalence around the turn.

800m - 400m: Markings out wide from recent jump outs and potentially trackwork but out wide enough not to bother most runners unless they scout very wide. Thought the inside lane was slightly choppy between the 600m and 400m mark and would rather be in lanes two and three entering the straight. Lanes five and beyond have more wear due to jump outs previously mentioned.

400m - Winning Post: Slightly more sandfill against the fence in lane one but there is minor wear right across. Lanes four and beyond have more wear and tear but doesn't necessarily walk any slower than the inside three lanes as there is thicker grass coverage closer to the fence. I felt the straight was on the worse side of a Good 4 but would dry out a touch before raceday.

Verdict : Usually on the Parks track I'd be giving a significant advantage to on-pace horses that map close to the fence, however I think this track will give all horses their chance to win. It won't surprise me if hard up against the fence is a slight negative entering the straight but fine both before and after that point.
