Lincoln Moore's Morphettville Parks Preview

BEST BET: FALL ON A STAR (Race 6)

EACH-WAY: ROBE BAY (Race 5)

VALUE: LOAD AND GO (Race 8)

RACE 1 - 11:25AM Furphy Handicap (1000 METRES)

RUNAMIGO has the score on the board. He was a good at his SA debut, jumping on speed and proving too good at Murray Bridge. This is a rise in grade but he draws a nice gate. SPIRITUAL GAL has been specked at odds on debut for Jon O’Connor and has jumped out well. She’s been $26 to $4.40 since markets opened and that’s a pretty good pointer to her ability. Ultra Racing has a big hand here with three debutants from three different stables. STRIKE AWARD is the local for Travis Doudle and was impressive when showing speed to win a recent Morphettville jump-out. JUSTIFIABLE AWARD is from the Kennewell stable and was off the speed in a Caulfield jump-out but got through his gears nicely late without being pressed. STRIKE AWARD is trained by Paul Preusker and is unwanted in the market. BRAZEN BOY created a big impression when he won a trial by 14 lengths before debuting at Moonee Valley where he was soft in the market, led and compounded. He resumed and was well tried before he was snagged back from a wide gate and got a good run through but was plain. BLERIOT chased home a couple of handy types at his first two starts before beating Elteecee on outer track in December. Was eased out the back and made good ground in a Morphettville jump-out on Tuesday but has been a big drifter after opening $5.50.

SELECTIONS: SPIRITUAL GAL, Runamigo, Strike Award

RACE 2 - 12:00PM Dominant Handicap (1550 METRES)

EN FRANCAIS looked a very nice horse when winning smartly on debut at Gawler. She’s got a big wrap and looks a horse who will thrive at 1550m. Todd Pannell goes on and she’s the top pick. MUSTARI is the danger. He draws a nice barrier and comes off a good Gawler win, beating Cashin’ Chex. His record is good. EXALTED CROWN is another who should be right in a race like this from a middle gate. He was a Cranbourne winner in November and Price/Kent Jr place their horses perfectly. SHE’S STYLISH could be an improver here back in class after taking on Cherry Tortoni in the Guineas last time. She’s drawn wide but will be running on.

SELECTIONS: EN FRANCAIS, Mustari, Exalted Crown

RACE 3 - 12:35PM Barossa Fine Foods Plate (1000 METRES)

SPINOLA BAY has been bursting to break through and was very good behind Echoes In Eternity two back before chasing home Tanja’s Dream at Balaklava, with the winning scoring again midweek. DELUSIONAL is a six-start maiden who has four placings to her name in Victoria and that form should hold up well here from a good gate. Ryan Balfour has three first starters here. BLAH BLAH BLAH trialled OK behind French Fields but draws wide. KENOBI draws marginally better and has had some market support, while SEMYORKA has Todd Pannell riding.

SELECTIONS: SPINOLA BAY, Delusional, Kenobi

RACE 4 - 1:10PM Weslo Security Handicap (1400 METRES)

Looks a nice race for AMBIDAZZLE, who was sent out favourite behind Extreme Thrill here on Goodwood Day. She is a winner here but does draw a sticky gate. Victorian raider SCREWDRIVER looks right in this from a good barrier. She was a Sandown winner in March and wasn’t beaten far behind Diamonds last time. There was a lot to like about the return of ICECRUSHER, who beat all but Highly Discreet at Murray Bridge last week. She was very solid last prep. She will probably get back from a tricky gate but she’ll be finishing hard. PERFECT COMMAND ran well behind Extreme Thrill last time out, is fitter for three runs back and has been in the money at seven of 11 starts here. TRADEWIND is the interesting one. His best would probably be win this and he was better behind Highly Discreet last week. The inside gate is an advantage and he’s a backable price despite being specked at an even bigger opening quote.

SELECTIONS: AMBIDAZZLE, Icecrusher, Screwdriver

RACE 5 - 1:50PM The John Rix Memorial Handicap (1950 METRES)

ROBE BAY is more than capable of winning a race like this. She comes out of good mares races where she’s got back and failed to make an impression, but there does looks a few horses drawn wide out who will likely roll forward and there could be a genuine tempo. Among those horses who will be pressing early is ACE OF CLUBS, who goes very well here and was a good winner two starts back. EXALTED BEAST led and bolted in at Murray Bridge two runs back. LORD BOUZERON was favourite when down the track at Alice Springs last time but his previous run behind Dreamed was very good. He draws an inside gate and has the claim. He opened big odds, which didn’t last long. DOES IT is the interesting one down the bottom. He’ll need some scratchings to gain a start but his latest behind Reynolds was an eye-catcher, screaming home from a long way back and his three runs back have been very good for a race like this. MANZALA was very good behind Canford last time out and looks ready to fire but faces a tricky wide barrier. Likewise CALL ME SHAMUS is another who is ready for the extra trip but draws poorly. DREAMED has a good record here and her win three starts back was good enough to be right in the mix here.

SELECTIONS: ROBE BAY, Lord Bouzeron, Does It

RACE 6 - 2:30PM Terry Howe Printing Handicap (1300 METRES)

FALL ON A STAR was heavily fancied here on debut and only plain after she was beaten for speed and covered ground. She showed good speed to find the lead, absorb pressure through the middle stages before and win as she pleased at Gawler last time. She draws a middle gate and looks the horse to beat. Outside her BULLET KID has been flying and draws a good gate. He raced keenly through the early and middle stages behind He’s A Balter last week and draws a nice gate. JAAMINT is going super and was game here two back, before winning at Port Augusta last weekend. She can run a cheeky race from a good barrier. WOUNDED SOLIDER didn’t have a lot go right last week at Murray Bridge and getting up in trip suits. ENCHANTINGLY is an ex-Chris Waller mare now with Scott Westover.

SELECTIONS: FALL ON A STAR, Bullet Kid, Jaamint

RACE 7 - 3:10PM Aramis Handicap (1550 METRES)

Good race. ECHO BOOMER draws wide but has been racing in great form. She rushed forward and was only grabbed late by Highly Discreet at Murray Bridge last week. If she can find a spot without working too hard she’s the clear top pick. WINGS OF PASTRAMI was good first-up from a spell behind Deep Dive before having solid support at Ballarat last time when she was tightened for room and didn’t have a lot go right in the straight. She races well here and can turn that around. HAMSLETTE has each-way appeal if she can utilise a good barrier and ride the speed. She led throughout to win at Ballarat three runs back and comes off two OK city efforts. DAZZLING DAMSEL can improve here. Her first-up run behind Deep Dive was very good before stepping up to Group 2 level and she was only beaten 3.1 lengths behind Fabric. Her latest in the Centaurea was only fair but this looks her type of race from an inside gate with the claim. FIELD OF ROSES wasn’t beaten far at Flemington last time and should appreciate getting up in trip, but is hampered by a bad barrier. THRILL KILL was good when making ground from a long way back at Warrnambool last time but is another who draws a poor gate. NOT USUAL GLORIOUS is a former Kiwi on debut for Travis Doudle. His form has been over further in NZ but he is a last-start winner and must be kept very safe.

SELECTIONS: ECHO BOOMER, Wings Of Pastrami, Hamslette

 RACE 8 - 3:50PM TAB Handicap (1250 METRES)

ECHOES IN ETERNITY is a smart filly who was hitting the line strongly behind Outlaw’s Revenge last week at Murray Bridge. She was runner-up her only start here and was very good in the Redelva two starts back. TRIP should give them something to run down here with the claim. Her form over this track and trip is excellent with two wins and three placings from six starts and she was solid behind Trygve last time. LOAD AND GO has been racing well and was a winner here at his only start this track and trip two runs back. LA RICHESSE is a dual winner here and can run a cheeky race despite a wide gate. GOLDEN HALO could run a forward race in this class, while AIGUILETTE is another who can produce a run here and there but draws out.

SELECTIONS: ECHOES IN ETERNITY, Trip, Load And Go

RACE 9 - 4:30PM 36⁰ South Beef Handicap (1000 METRES)

MR TEE KAY was impressive when he found the lead and gave nothing a look in last time. He draws to lead again and is going to take some catching, but this is an obvious step up with some pressure drawn his outside. THAT GIRL draws a tricky gate but has the blinkers for the first time and did settle well back here behind Trygve. Her previous at Pakenham – when supported – was good for this, with the winner scoring at Sandown midweek. ROCK OF KRYPTONITE is a Victorian visitor who was a good Horsham winner last time out. This is harder but he has talent and was tried at Group 3 level back in February. He looks a big danger form a good gate. The Jon O’Connor pair of AKKACAN and MAGIC PHANTOM both have claims from middle gates. DOMINATION could be the worry to Mr Tee Kay knowing he only knows one way and that is to burn early and try and run rivals into the ground. He draws to be a factor.

SELECTIONS: MR TEE KAY, That Girl, Rock Of Kryptonite
