Lincoln Moore's Strathalbyn preview

BEST BET: FUNCKIA (Race 2)

EACH-WAY: CENTRE SCOOTA (Race 8)

VALUE: ANNIKA (Race 7)

RACE 1 - 12:10PM Harry of All Trades Maiden Plate (2055 METRES)

Looks the perfect race for LUTZ after two runs back from a spell. He was good behind Cool Magnum first-up at nice odds and then ran behind Mug’s Game last time. He’s short but should be winning here. MAVEN MISSILE is the obvious danger. He looked to have Gondolier covered at Naracoorte when he peaked on his run. There isn’t much depth here and he should take it up to the favourite. CEFFYL MOR is the only other winning hope on disclosed form. She has a Victorian placing to her name and can improve second-up for Travis Doudle.

SELECTIONS: LUTZ, Maven Missile, Ceffyl Mor

RACE 2 - 12:45PM Goolwa Hotel Maiden Plate (1600 METRES)

FUNCKIA looks ideally placed here fitter for two runs back from a spell and was solid behind Mug’s Game at Gawler last time. Slightly tricky draw, but she looks the one. RUGER ROSE could be the danger on the back of a very good SA debut when he made ground behind Ghetto. REGAL TRIUMPH likes it here with two placings from three starts here and is much better than last start. The watch is DALAKARA, who is on debut for Shayne Cahill and had some form around some handy types before a spell. DIXIE WHISTLER was placed behind Ye Hella at Balaklava at a price last time and could show up in another race without much depth.

SELECTIONS: FUNCKIA, Ruger Rose, Regal Triumph

RACE 3 - 1:20PM South Coast Marine & Caravan Upholstery Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

SAVILLE has already been well found in the market after a good debut, running on behind Wild Tycoon. He trialled here in the lead-up and has the claim for Ben Price. David Jolly has two chances, led by UTAH JOE, who resumes here and has trialled OK for his return. SHE’S A TOFF was solid in the market when placed on debut and must be given some thought from a good draw.

SELECTIONS: SAVILLE, Utah Joe, She’s A Toff

RACE 4 - 1:55PM Commercial Hotel Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

The market has this a match in two and it looks a good race for PENTIRE’S SPIRIT, who comes out of some handy form races. He chased home Struck By on debut and was favourite at Balaklava behind Possum Born before a break. He was thrown in the deep end first up behind Great Leveller at Morphettville and looks the one to beat here. MISS LANGTRY ran well behind Jacjac Jacqui on debut, has trialled well and also has the advantage of an inside barrier. OOLONG GAZE has been placed at six of 18 starts and can run into the multiples, while MICHIEVOUS TYCOON has trialled well for her debut.

SELECTIONS: PENTIRE’S SECRET, Miss Langtry, Oolong Gaze

RACE 5 - 2:30PM Strath Small Engines Benchmark 54 Handicap (1100 METRES)

TANJA’S DREAM has been solid in early betting and now finds herself in the red on the back of a good win last time when she controlled the speed before breaking away to win well at Balaklava. She’s fitter again and should take beating. TURF TAPPER could be ready third up from a break and his form last time in work was good. SANBUCK was very good in a much stronger form race behind Lunar Hero in town three starts back and ran well behind Magic Phantom last outing.

SELECTIONS: TANJA’S DREAM, Sanbuck, Turf Tapper

RACE 6 - 3:05PM Fleurieu Milk Company Fillies and Mares 0-58 Handicap (1100 METRES)

GHETTO was badly held up two runs back before a good Bordertown win last time. This is a step up in class but he draws well and can win again. HONEY GO LIGHTLY was only fair at Warrnambool first-up and her latest behind Trumpsta was good for a race like this. L’IL PIPER had good form last campaign and defeated Winning Weather. She didn’t do a lot first-up but looks an improver in a race like this. THE PUBLIKIN caught the eye first-up from a break and has a good record here, while AMBERTONE is another with a good record here on her home track and has two trials under her belt.

SELECTIONS: GHETTO, The Publikin, Honey Go Lightly

RACE 7 - 3:40PM Northpoint Fleurieu 0-64 Handicap (1200 METRES)

ANNIKA ran well behind Lady Dunmore two starts back and again finished off well behind Extreme Thrill last time. She is a winner here and gets her chance to bounce back. I’m happy to have something on her each-way despite a sharp drift since markets opened. MRS MOURINHO hit the line hard behind Magic Phantom and is right up to a race like this. She won her only start here. Local STRIKE IN STYLE loves it here, with four wins from six starts, and is impossible to overlook. RIZSKI was close up in a much stronger race behind Trygve last time at Morphettville. GREETINGS NED is first-up for Dennis O’Leary and must be kept very safe here. The betting will be a good guide to his chances. AZZURO BIANCO improved last start at big odds and must be respected.

SELECTIONS: ANNIKA, Mrs Mourinho, Rizski

RACE 8 - 4:15PM Langhorne Creek Wine Region Benchmark 54 Handicap (1350 METRES)

The best betting race of the day and keen to have something on CENTRE SCOOTA, who made good ground from a long way back at Bordertown last time. He draws wide but will settle back and be strong late. CARBONE finished off well behind Exalted Maxine at Bordertown and has a good record here. IGITUR drops back from the mile and has solid support when he led behind Tiza last starts. He has won five races here. SCOUT’S HONOUR chased home Echo Boomer two starts back which is good form for a race like this. HILUMIERE has trialled up OK and must be respected, having finished in the money at 14 of 22 starts on her home track.

SELECTIONS: CENTRE SCOOTA, Carbone, Igitur
