Lincoln Moore's KI preview

BEST: MUFFLA (Race 2)

EACH-WAY: MISS CATASTROPHI (Race 4)

VALUE: GO BOO BOO (Race 6)

RACE 1 - 1:20PM Pirate Life Maiden Plate (1008 METRES)

ATTACK THE PIN has had a few chances but has very good early speed. He draws out but will give them something to chase. JACKS ‘N’ DANIEL’S was runner-up behind Eight Over Eight at Port Lincoln two starts back before beaten just 2.1 lengths in fourth behind Navy Commander there last time and draws a good barrier. NEEDA wasn’t far away in a Gawler maiden at her SA debut and draws a good barrier. VIRAGO MISS led when fourth behind Lucy Diamonds at Gawler last time and was placed at Port Lincoln three runs back. KI EVIL ANGEL didn’t do a lot in an Oakbank trial in January.

SELECTIONS: ATTACK THE PIN, Jacks ‘N’ Daniel’s, Needa

RACE 2 - 1:55PM Millie Mae's Pantry Maiden Plate (1360 METRES)

MUFFLA showed ability being placed in all three starts last time in and was in the market first-up when beaten 8.1 lengths behind Daily Spirit at Morphettville. He draws the perfect gate, has been smashed in early betting and should be winning here. UP is a former Victorian who looked pretty good winning a Gawler trial in preparation for this. She draws out but must be respected. VICARIUM showed improvement in a recent Morphettville trial and has the blinkers off. SHE’S DREAMING made ground at massive odds at Murray Bridge at her last outing back in September.

SELECTIONS: MUFFLA, Up, Vicarium

RACE 3 - 2:30PM G&J East Strathalbyn Benchmark 52 Handicap (1880 METRES)

MAORI MAGIC is unbeaten in two here at KI and was placed at Oakbank behind Farewell Greta three starts back before battling last time behind Ace Attack. He’s drawn a tricky gate but Paula Trenwith has a great record here and he should take beating. MARYMOUNT LASS was dominant when winning by four lengths here last time over Cashing Up. BIT OF A FLIRT was sent out favourite when beaten 7.8 lengths here behind Marymount Lass. She improved at Naracoorte at big odds when fourth behind Bossy Britches and must be respected – and there has been some early market support. Stablemate BLACKMAILER was a $2.30 chance when fourth behind Caldwell here last time. He draws the inside and must be respected. NOSTROVIA was specked at a price first-up at Gawler. He could be an improver second up from a good barrier and Dennis O’Leary is another who sets his horses for this carnival. OWL ON THE PROWL has won 11 races and been placed at two of three starts here. His run three starts back behind Hasta La Bullet is OK form for this.

SELECTIONS: MAORI MAGIC, Marymount Lass, Nostrovia

RACE 4 - 3:10PM Kangaroo Island Freight Services Benchmark 52 Handicap (1360 METRES)

Open race, happy to have something on MISS CATASTROPHI, who had some support and was only beaten 1.4 lengths behind Wicked Whitt at Penola last time. She is mixing form but draws a gate and looks to have solid each-way claims here. CAITLIN’S ANGEL has a great record here, having won two and placed at her only other start. She was too good for Mary’s Pride last time and draws a good gate with Ben Price in the saddle. Trainer Nicole Bruggerman has a good record here and MARY’S PRIDE was in the market here on debut for her stable when runner-up behind Caitlin’s Angel before being plain at Strathalbyn. She has the addition of blinkers for the first time and her Victorian form reads well for this sort of class. Stablemate REBEL ROMANCE started in SA with the McEvoy stable and won a Pakenham maiden before going to NSW and is now back in SA. MISS ELEGANCE led them up when beaten eight lengths behind Icecrusher last time but did win consecutive races at Port Lincoln in Oct/Nov and must be respected.

SELECTIONS: MISS CATASTROPHI, Caitlin’s Angel, Miss Elegance

RACE 5 - 3:50PM Dudley Wines Benchmark 62 Handicap (1008 METRES)

Nicole Bruggemann has four runners here led by VALENTINA STAR, who ran well at her SA debut up in class behind Lake’s Folly at Morphettville and was again good at Murray Ridge behind Can’tforgetyou. She had support at Gawler but was only fair behind Rock Hard, draws a gate and gets her chance. Stablemate SMARTKAP was narrowly beaten at a big price here two starts back before a handy effort behind Justa Jillaroo at Gawler. VEXATIOUS BOY was a winner here at odds last start and draws a good gate. RONNIE won a Gold Coast maiden back in July and was in the market here two runs back. Grant Young’s EXALTED GOLD is nicely suited in this sort of class. She beat The Raven four starts back at Gawler and her latest behind Rohlon Drunk at Naracoorte was OK. She’ll make his own luck from the draw. EQUAL BALANCE is the watch on debut for Dennis O’Leary. He wasn’t beaten far at Canberra on January 22. VIETTI jumped favourite here last start and was a good winner on debut for Kym Healy at Murray Bridge back in September.

SELECTIONS: VALENTINA STAR, Exalted Gold, Equal Balance

RACE 6 - 4:30PM Festival Hire Benchmark 62 Handicap (1750 METRES)

Looks to be a race with good speed. MEADOWS YOUNG BUCK put together consecutive wins in December and his past couple have been good for this. He led up when beaten 2.9 lengths behind Medieval Miss at Morphettville. He’ll roll forward and take beating, even with the big weight. Stablemate JACK’S A CRACKER gets into this well with the claim and is another who will be forward in the run. TABLE OF WISDOM will also roll forward and he was brave first-up from a spell when narrowly beaten by Exalted Traveller. He’s a winner here and a lot fitter now. GO BOO BOO draws out but could sit off the speed and finish over the top of rivals. At Murray Bridge he beat Lollielucas, who has won since, and back out in trip appeals. Stablemate SENTRY GATE is another who will settle off the speed and has claims. LINE DANCER has been placed at two of her past thee and maps well here. MISTA KNOWITALL is another who will get back but thrive on a solid tempo.

SELECTION: GO BOO BOO, Meadows Young Buck, Table Of Wisdom

RACE 7 - 5:10PM Atkins Freight Services Benchmark 58 Handicap (1215 METRES)

Open race to finish the day. REGINA DEL DRAMMA won two races at Port Lincoln before coming home and making ground behind Cotillion in stronger company last time. CENTRE SCOOTA finished off strongly behind Siberian Route at Gawler last time out and that looks good form for a race like this. MOSSBELLE could be an improver here. He had specking early when placed at Bordertown on debut for new stable and was again fancied last time. WICKED SCANDAL was specked at a price at Morphettville back in April and was again well tried behind Narrative Star last time at Gawler. He clearly has ability and draws perfectly. MR RANGER has a good record here with a win and a second from two starts and has been placed at two of three first-up. VEGAN ran a $1.90 favourite here last time and draws a good gate to improve. LADY FOXWEDGE is former Tasmanian first-up in SA for Nicole Bruggerman.

SELECTIONS: REGINA DEL DRAMMA, Centre Scoota, Wicked Scandal
