Mares features a target for Dazzing Damsel

Dazzling Damsel could be targeted towards some mares features during the 2021 Adelaide Festival of Racing after she scored a fighting win in the $102,250 Alcopop Series Final at Morphettville on the weekend.

Narrowly beaten by Trip in the $100,000 Viddora Series Final back in October, Dazzling Damsel has proven to be yet another astute selection by the Will Clarken stable.

Previously with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Dazzling Damsel has now banked $77,000 in just six starts on South Australian soil.

Murray Bridge horseman Grant Young enjoyed a big weekend with four winners across two meetings.

Young scored with Meadows Young Buck and Exalted Queen at Morphettville on Friday afternoon, the latter the second leg of a riding double for Caitlin Jones, who took riding honours to continue her massive month in the saddle.

Meadows Young Buck was ridden by Ryan Hurdle, who carried that winning form – in combination with Young – to Gawler on Saturday. The pair were successful with Exalted Gold and Jack’s Cracker, who scored at big odds.

The highlight at Gawler on Saturday was the brilliant return to winning form by Terbium who looked brilliant when beating his well-fancied stablemate Sizzlefly by 4.8 lengths over the 1100m trip.

Terbium looked a potential star when he won the 2019 Group 3 Zeditave Stakes and beat Zoushine in the process, subsequently putting his virtually unknown (outside of SA) sire Terango on the map.

It was a massive day for his dual state trainer Phillip Stokes, who produced winners at Gawler, Flemington and Benalla to take his carry total of winners to 998.

The Stokes stable will now look to get Terbium back to Melbourne over the summer.

Meanwhile there were jockey milestones across the busy weekend of racing. Anna Jordsjo dominated at Port Lincoln on Sunday with five winners to cement her position in the top 10 on the South Australian riders’ premiership.

In addition, Scarlet So landed her first metropolitan winner aboard the Chris Bieg-trained Grey Vitality at Morphettville on Friday afternoon.
