Clare joins Racing.com for bumper Morphettville card

Tomorrow's bumper, 10-race Morphettville card coincides with SA Racing Hall of Fame member Clare Lindop joining the Racing.com team.

A total of 118 acceptances were received for the meeting, 39 more than the corresponding meeting last year.

Racing.com’s telecast of the extraordinarily healthy meeting begins at 10.45am, when the Group 1-winning former jockey will join Terry McAuliffe as a special guest host.

“Now retired, Clare will use her experience in the saddle to provide viewers with unique analysis, expert insight and best bets across the meeting,” said Racing.com’s Matthew Welsh.

“Don’t miss Saturday’s broadcast on Racing.com as one of South Australia’s brightest stars joins the coverage.”

A trail-blazing jockey, Clare set a raft of records during her career, which included multiple jockeys’ premierships, Group 1 wins, various milestones and being the first Australian woman to ride in the Melbourne Cup.

She recently had a race renamed in her honour: the 1600m Listed Laelia Stakes for three-year-old fillies – run in late March/early April, during the early part of Adelaide’s annual autumn carnival – will be known as the Clare Lindop Stakes from 2021 onwards.

Meanwhile, TRSA chief operating officer Vaughn Lynch said it was “very pleasing” to see such strong fields at tomorrow’s meeting.

The 118 acceptances represents a 49 per cent increase on last year’s corresponding meeting, also held a week before the Penny Edition Stakes, now renamed the Leon Macdonald Stakes.
