Media Release: SA’s Autumn Racing Carnival secures live national coverage

South Australia’s Autumn Racing Carnival will be broadcast live and free to homes across the country this year, under an arrangement between Thoroughbred Racing SA’s (TRSA) vision rights holder Racing.com and Channel 7.

In partnership with Racing.com, Channel 7 will bring viewers the Carnival’s three feature race days at Morphettville Racecourse in their entirety, as part of a live, national broadcast hosted by Bruce McAvaney.

Featured race days include:

Each day promises a stacked line-up of racing with strong acceptances recorded throughout this year’s Autumn Carnival, which commenced on 4 April.

TRSA CEO Nick Redin said the decision was “a fantastic boost for the South Australian racing industry.”

“Everyone in our industry has been working hard to ensure racing can continue in South Australia, albeit without crowds,” he said.

“We have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and introducing new protocols to meet State Government requirements and advice which have been embraced and followed by the industry. The result of that hard work is a vibrant Autumn Carnival with more broadcast exposure than ever.

“While it’s obviously disappointing that we can’t welcome everyone to Morphettville for these events, we hope to see racegoers across the country enjoy a day at the races from the comfort of their own homes.”

The broadcast kicks off this Saturday 2 May with Oaks Day at Morphettville, live from 11:00am on 7TWO and 7plus, followed by live coverage from 11:30am on Channel 7.
