Mighty mares out to make their mark in the Viddora Series Final

The state’s most in-form mares will do battle on Saturday for the $100k Viddora Series Final at Morphettville, in the second of the Spring Bonanza Series Finals.

Early favourite in the race is the Lindsay Park trained Prepare to Win. She has an outstanding record over the 1300m and won well two weeks ago over 1200m when she defeated Flop on the track proper. A nice 2kg claim from apprentice Fred Kerlsey should have her right in this race as she continues to step up through the grades.

The horse hoping to turn the tables on Prepare to Win will be the Gordon Richards trained Flop. She has been electric late in both her last two races and looks to be maturing nicely with plenty of talent and speed to burn. The in-form Jake Toeroek will take the ride on her for the first time on Saturday.

Tony McEvoy’s lightly raced mare Fleeting Feeling is another who has had early support in the market after not quite holding on last week against Columbia in mixed grade. She’ll be fitter from that run and should get a great ride from Jamie Kah.

The Richard and Chantelle Jolly trained Schilldora took out last week’s Rebel Raider Series Final as an outsider in the field and they will be hoping for more of this same this Saturday when their $19 chance Artful Rambler takes to the track. The mare came out of the same race as Fleeting Feeling last week and now she steps back to her own sex and drops in the weights she’ll be flying home late for the Jolly yard.

Ryan Balfour will be represented by three horses on Saturday with Embecee Lil looking like his best chance. A few starts back she was running in Listed races over further but drops back to the 1300m where she’s won twice at this track.

Last start winner, Miss Jane has been super competitive this preparation and got her rewards last start. At the beginning of September she was less than a length off Steel Frost over 1250m and if she can bring that kind of form, she’s a horse that will be reckoned with on Saturday.

While there will be a big watch on Sue Jaensch’s Amberdi who returns from a spell on Saturday. The mare has never run outside the top two with four wins and two second placings from her six starts. The mare was flying through the grades last preparation and was only a neck off of Modulate over 1250m which is form that reads exceptionally well.

Saturday’s feature is set to be an incredibly even affair with some very talented mares getting around, who no doubt will have some aspirations across the border in the near future with a win on the weekend.
