Boyd Aiming for a November Return

Popular apprentice Eran Boyd is aiming for a return to the saddle in November after a few injury setbacks this season.

Boyd was last seen at the races in April where she had a great start to the season, notching up 16 metropolitan winners.

Ongoing issues with her collarbone forced an early end to her season having surgery at the start of May. After a successful recovery with the collarbone, she has now decided to go back under the knife to remove the metal from her leg after an operation in December 2013.

“The leg has always given me a bit of grief and I have always wanted to get the metal taken out but I never wanted to take the time off to get it done.”

“I would have been back in August if I didn’t get the leg fixed but I thought It would be worth taking the extra time off and come back right with no niggling injuries.”

Boyd is set to have surgery on her leg on August 4 but is confident she will return to the track in November.

“After speaking to the surgeon I should be able to be riding track work in the first week of October and then jump outs and trials after that. My goal is to be fully fit by November.”

While she hasn’t been riding for close to three months, she’s been working as hard as ever trying to get her body right.

“I’ve been working a lot on my physical strength recently. I’ve gone and got a personal trainer, starting boxing and even begun yoga. I just want to keep up my fitness levels.”

When she finally gets back in the saddle, Boyd has just one goal she wants to achieve.

“I just want to get back in that winner’s circle!”
