Summer Hot Tips

Interview with Liza Emanuele

She’s travelled the world and wowed the rich and famous with her designs, but for local fashion designer Liza Emanuele there’s nothing like a day at the races, especially at home in South Australia.

We asked Liza for her hot tips on what to wear to the races this summer.

Divine dresses

Whether it’s a picnic style event or a glamorous cocktail atmosphere, this season’s dresses can be dressed up or down making them perfect race meet attire.

What’s more, with a variety of shapes in season – including halter neck, strapless, A-line or maxi dresses – there is one to suit every taste and figure.

Bold brights or classic black and whites are the way to go for more formal events, while florals, bohemian prints and tie dye are perfect for a country meeting.

Liza recommends steering clear of pant suits and ensuring your look is sexy yet smart and appropriate for the daytime.

Heel alternative

Sick of your heels digging into the grass at the track? Liza recommends wedges as the perfect solution this season.

The versatile shoe style has made a comeback this year and with plenty of styles on offer, there’s a pair to compliment every dress.

Be smart with fabric

Fabrics are an important component of summer race wear and Liza advises to keep it simple to remain cool and comfortable on hot days.

Natural fabrics such as cotton or silk are best, but jersey is another popular addition this season and can add a more casual touch to floral and bohemian prints.
