Welcome! There’s nothing like owning a racehorse – to watch your magnificent animal race towards the finish line is a magical experience – that’s why it’s known as the ‘sport of kings’.

Fortunately, you don’t have to be royalty to be part of this exciting and potentially rewarding industry. Many people, from all walks of life, become successful racehorse owners. And you don’t need any experience – just a passion for the sport and the ability to support your racehorse through the losses as well as the wins. One well-known South Australian, Crows Captain, Mark Riccuito, is an avid racing fan and racehorse owner. “To me, racing is just as much fun as football, and I know it will be a big part of my life long after my footy career is over. Owning a horse is a fantastic experience, and I would recommend it to anyone.”

Many first-time owners form syndicates, and owning a racehorse becomes their hobby. This is a great way to start because it gives you a taste of the racing industry without committing huge amounts of money. The manual you can download below takes you through the steps (and options) of how to own a racehorse. It is very simple, it provides basic information and contacts to help you make the right decisions. An easy way to become involved in a syndicate is to find a trainer who is licensed to syndicate and who may have other individuals interested in part-owning a Thoroughbred Racehorse, such licensed organisations include Mark Kavanagh and First Tuesday Racing.
