This is the northern-most racing event in South Australia and outback racing at its best, complete with red sands and outback hospitality. The whole town is in ‘Cup’ mode, and the experience is one you’ll never forget. Race day, around 2000 people gather from as far away as Birdsville and Alice Springs for a fantastic trackside celebration that begins with an outback breakfast and continues well into the evening. Fashion plays a big part trackside, with Fashions on the Field and the naming of Miss and Mr Outback. Plus there’ll be live entertainment, kids entertainment, and a full programme of racing. It’s a great piece of Aussie culture that shouldn’t be missed. Accommodation is sure to be scarce, so book early or bring your tent.
