The Murray Bridge Racecourse is situated within 3 kms of the luscious banks of the Murray River.. In May 2005 the Murray Bridge Racing Club announced plans for relocation of it facilities to a new site. The concept plan included an equine precinct which would surround a worlds best practice training facility. The precinct would include various services within the development including a veterinary clinic. For a preview of the concept plans click here Murray Bridge supports an array of tourist activities and community events, such as the annual Australian Pedal Prix, International Soccer Challenge, National Speedway, National Speed Skiing Championships, Agricultural Show, Relay for Life and the Australian Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea. Murray Bridge Racing Club also plays host to the Rotary Country Markets, Red Cross Blood Bank, Carols by Candlelight, The Australian Childhood Foundation, Diabetes SA and many other community events and functions, in addition to business trade shows and demonstrations. Murray Bridge Racing Club supports local community, business and community groups, and are members of the Murraylands Regional Tourism Association. The Club is also one of the largest not-for-profit employers within the region and contributes significantly to the local economy. The Club's objectives are to promote and further develop thoroughbred horse racing, particularly within the Murraylands region, both as a competitive sport and as a family-oriented recreation activity. The Club's board of management consists of ten member-elected Committee representatives. The Club also employs a full-time Manager, Curator and various grounds and office support staff. The Club relies on its supporter's membership, the operation of the thoroughbred training complex (which operates at the racecourse six days per week), race meeting revenue (with fourteen race meetings per annum) and industry and corporate sponsorship to fund the general administration, on-course developments, off-course activities and projects of the Club. Murray Bridge is situated 78 kms from Adelaide , approximately 40 minutes drive down the South Eastern Freeway and has a population of around 18,000 people. Membership privileges include access to all 14 race meetings, reciprocal rights to other Racecourses (conditions apply), invitations to Club activities including Pre-Cup functions, seasonal newsletter, race day competitions for cash & betting jackpot prizes, Members Badge and two Guest Badges. Annual Membership entitlements are valued at over $320 per year, providing a saving of around $250 based on General Admission fees alone. Membership for the racing season (2006-07) is available for $70 (including GST). Provides members badge and two guest passes or $44 for single membership and application forms are available from the Secretary's Office at Murray Bridge Racing Club. Murray Bridge Racing Club offers a variety of social and corporate race-day marquee hospitality packages. Marquee hospitality packages can be customised to cater for individual requirements, providing a unique and memorable way to entertain corporate clients, employees or friends and family. The following packages are available on all non-feature race meetings. Some changes may occur to these packages for major race meetings. LUNCHEON PACKAGES: - Chairman's / Committee Luncheon packages can be booked for race meetings ranging from $65 per person. Luncheon typically includes a sumptuous 2 course buffet lunch and 4-5 hour beverage package, admission, race books and members area access.
