The Balaklava Cup is a one of a kind event where more than 12,000 people 'take the day off' on a Wednesday in September and to travel to the town of Balaklava some 100km north of Adelaide.

It may be for corporate entertaining or just a great day out to relax - whatever the excuse, the Balaklava Cup is a wonderful celebration of country racing.

Celebrate in style! Have your own private trackside marquee. The beauty of your own
area is that you have a base to work from and are not dependent on other facilities.
We have a list of recommended food caterers or you can do your own.

A private trackside marquee includes:

  • 6m x 6m reserved trackside site including 3m personal beer-garden area (to be fencedby marquee holder)
  • 1 x 10amp power outlet
  • access to on course TAB, public toilets and all public areas at the Balaklava Racing Club.

It is the responsibility of the marquee holder to order and decorate their own marquee and furniture.

First sitting is at 11.30am - 12.45pm.

The Beldale Ball Marquee was established in 2001 to promote corporate packages
at Balaklava.

The marquee is named after 'Beldale Ball', a stallion trained by well known Colin S Hayes (dec). Beldale Ball ran his first Australian race right here at Balaklava in 1980 as a lead in to the 1980 Melbourne Cup. Beldale Ball went on to win the Melbourne Cup with jockey
Johnny Letts in the saddle.

Located trackside in prime location with easy access to the betting ring, grandstand
and public facilities, this corporate trackside marquee sells out each year,
growing in size from 100 to 300 in attendance.

It is in a great location incorporating a fully inclusive package so all you need to do is bring your punting money.

This year the picnic sites will be situated by the pines adjacent the training stalls
south of the members car park.

There will be easy access to toilets, tote and the track. All you have to do is bring your own blanket and/or deck chairs and food. Your bus will also have access to the allocated on course parking area.

Grab your friends, pack up your food hamper and have a relaxing yet fun filled day at the races.

$400 per marquee ($40 per person)

Mini Marquees are designed for smaller groups of 10 or more people in the Members Car Park, close to TAB facilities. Toilets are just a short walk from the public car park.

Package includes:

  • 3m x 3m marquee

  • 10 general entry tickets.

Beverages are provided by the Racing Club and are available at bottle shop prices. You need to pre-order your drinks and then they will be delivered on ice to your marquee Cup morning.

Established in 2008 to replace the Colts & Fillies marquee, The Y Room is a marquee directly
aimed at Generation Y. The Y Room was proudly run by the Exchange Hotel, Gawler in 2009 with great success.

Boasting viewing decks, live band and DJ, the event space is tastefully decorated to give a great on course party atmosphere for the 18 to 30 age group (at heart if not in years!).

The Barton Marquee is a high profile, silver service marquee. It began in 2006 in
honour of Mr Ian Barton of Bardrill Corporation.

Ian was a huge supporter of racing in SA and especially enjoyed his relationship with the Balaklava Racing Club.

In 2006 Dr Andrew Thomas, Australia's only astronaut, spent the day in the Barton as
our special guest and had this to say:

'I have to say I had a splendid time there. It was a great event, and the weather was marvellous.'

The Barton is a fully floored, formally decorated, completely inclusive, fully lined
marquee with personal tote facility, beer garden, large plasma TV and full program
monitors.

The bar facilities are always staffed by high quality hospitality personnel who keep
glasses full and atmosphere flowing.

The Cocktail Club Marquee was established in 2007 as a sister to the Colts & Fillies marquee (now known as the Y Room) for those looking for a casual Cocktail Club atmosphere with casual light live entertainment, informal arrangements and top quality service and hospitality.

The Cocktail Club has a casual cocktail bar environment in prime trackside location with private facilities and is fully inclusive. Gourmet food is served throughout the day including fresh seafood and sweets in the afternoon.

To top off a great day, guest cocktail staff are on hand to whip up their signature cocktails.

Thank you to Electric Circus nightclub and the Royal Hotel Balaklava for servicing the Cocktail Club in 2009.

Transport will be available from the CBD for $30.00 per person. Location and times to be
arranged closer to the Cup.
