Show your support for SA turf stars

South Aussie horses are making a national splash this spring and a new-release range of caps lets you show support – while backing equine welfare projects.

Colour co-ordinated caps for Everest-bound pair Gytrash and Behemoth, along with middle-distance star Dalasan and sprinting mare Bella Vella, are now available for purchase here.

“We’ve got an exceptionally talented bunch of SA horses at the moment and they’re already doing us proud this spring,” said TRSA (Thoroughbred Racing South Australia) industry marketing manager Michelle Greene.

“These caps are a brilliant way to display that pride and get behind these horses in the big races ahead.”

All profits from each cap sold will go towards TRSA’s equine-welfare arm, which was created earlier this year and is already delivering tangible outcomes.

Boasting a string of blistering winning performances, most recently in the Concorde Stakes at Randwick, Gytrash is among the favourites for The Everest (1200m) on October 17 and has made Adelaide trainer Gordon Richards a household name in racing circles.

Behemoth raced into Everest calculations with two sensational Group 1 wins over 1400m in Melbourne over the past month, including the Rupert Clark Stakes as top weight. After that second win, the Everest whisper quickly grew into a roar, and Goolwa-based trainer David Jolly’s stable star was quickly catapulted into the world’s richest turf race.

Dalasan – from the Leon Macdonald-Andrew Gluyas stable – had outstanding black-type form before running second to the rising star of Australian turf, Russian Camelot, in the Group 1 SA Derby earlier this year. In three runs since resuming, Dalasan has shown he is on track for a fruitful spring campaign.

Trainer Will Clarken’s stable star Bella Vella is already a Group 1 winner and backed up her first-up win in Melbourne with arguably the run of the race in the Group 1 Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night, finishing a brave third.
