Best Bets: Goodwood Day

What a carnival we've had so far and you get the feeling it's just going to get better! The highlight of the South Australian racing calendar is here with Darley Goodwood Day and we have a bumper card ahead of us on Saturday.

Our tipsters have been on fire so far this carnival, so let's hope they can find a couple more winners to fill our pockets!

Adam McGrath - Racing.com

Goodwood Tip: Vega Magic

Despite having to break a few records to win again, Vega Magic has shown that he has the ability and the class to create history. Barrier 14 is no concern with the speed that he has shown before and the 59kg is also of no concern. We might be witnessing some history on Saturday punters

Best Bet: Pleasuring (Race 3, Number 2)

She was very impressive in the Oaks, running home strongly to lose by under a length. Miss Admiration which is in this race beat her home narrowly in the Oaks, but with barrier 4 compared to barrier 14 and the Lane/Weir combination which has been unstoppable in recent times, I’m happy to go with the filly by Hard Spun

Goodwood Tip: Vega Magic

History says it's hard to win this race carrying 59kgs but let's leave the past behind us and focus on the future! I think he'll be too good for them. May have to sit a touch wide on the speed but I think he's just better than these.

Best Bet: Savapinski (Race 4, Number 1)

Thought the jockey went too quickly on him last start given he had to work a touch early. With a smoother run across and a softer first 800m I think he can return to the winner's stall.

Goodwood Tip: Vega Magic

Without doubt recognised as one of the nation’s finest sprinters the Lindsay Park prepared Vega Magic has been set soley to emulate his Goodwood success last year when first up for his new trainers. With the services of champion hoop Damien Oliver the top weight is clearly the horse to beat.

Best Bet: Yogi (Race 1, Number 4)

This Darren Weir galloper is now three runs into a preparation which at his most recent outing saw him a fast finishing second to stablemate Gallic Chieftain in the Warrnambool Cup. He is cherry ripe and primed to go one better in Saturday’s Heineken 3 Port Adelaide Cup.

Goodwood Tip: Vega Magic

Pound for pound, he's the best horse in the race and word out of Lindsay Park is that he's even more forward than when he won this race last year. The barrier is a worry but he basically sat three-deep the trip with 58.5kg in The Everest and still only got beaten less than a length.

Best Bet: Miss Admiration (Race 3, Number 1)

Really caught the eye with strong-finishing third in the Australasian Oaks a fortnight ago. Drawn poorly but she gets back in her races anyway. Step up to 2500m is ideal and expect her to be finishing over the top of them.

Lincoln Moore - The Advertiser

Goodwood Tip: Santa Ana Lane

Looking for value and this horse appears primed for this. Clearly in need of a run first-up before a slashing effort here in the McKay Stakes where he produced seriously good sectionals behind Sprightly Lass. Should have almost won this race last year, will get back and need his share of luck but he looks a great each-way bet.

Best Bet: Lite'n In My Veins (Race 5, Number 1)

Has been placed superbly to win his past three starts here in Adelaide. Nicely weighted and drawn perfectly again to control the race. Will take beating.
